Environmental Responsibility

Environmental responsibility is the Company’s material theme and Copel’s commitment to sustainable development, as set out in the Materiality Report. The environmental studies carried out aim to identify, avoid, reduce and mitigate the impacts caused by the implementation and operation of the projects.

Among Copel’s initiatives are the conscious use of natural resources, the preservation of biodiversity, actions against climate change, compliance with current laws, environmental licensing, the use of new technologies, innovation and certification of processes.

Environmental Licensing

Copel is concerned with controlling the impacts of the construction and operation of its projects, in order to mitigate negative socio-environmental impacts and enhance positive ones. It performs a robust management of its licenses, relying on a risk management methodology and monitoring of performance indicators.

The licensing process aims to obtain and maintain all authorizations and licenses that allow the implementation and operation of projects and facilities.

Environmental and archaeological licensing is carried out by a multidisciplinary team formed by professionals from the environment area, who work in cooperation with professionals from the areas involved, from the conception and implementation of the project, and throughout the operation of the enterprise.
