Copel Certifications

Copel, committed to the principles of transparency, equity, accountability and corporate responsibility, complies with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as improves its internal management and corporate governance controls.

In this sense, the company has an internal certification process that aims to certify the quality of the processes, reducing risks and expenses that would directly impact customers, investors and society.

It also seeks to secure external certifications in quality (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001), compliance (ISO 37301) and occupational health and safety (45001).

The Company manages ISO 14001 Certificates – Environmental Management Systems within the scope of energy generation in hydroelectric plants whose operations and maintenance are 100% controlled by Copel. Using this premise, approximately 77.8% of the plants are certified.

Copel has an audit for internal conformity certification, which aims to evaluate the application of the routine management methodology, seeking to improve operational performance, compliance with procedures, risk mitigation and the effectiveness of actions defined for the improvement of each process, which is only certified if it meets the requirements of Training and Formalization, Documented Information, Process Performance, Risks and Compliance.

Certifications are carried out by accredited certification bodies, which are contracted to carry out external audits of processes, assessing compliance with the requirements of NBR ISO 9001, NBR ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and NBR ISO 37301, which deal, respectively, with quality management systems, environmental management, occupational health and safety management and compliance, resulting in greater efficiency of processes, reduction of environmental impacts, prevention of accidents and occupational diseases and reinforcement of the organization’s commitment to meeting legal requirements.

Supplier Certification

The certification processes at Copel Distribuição (Copel DIS) and Copel Geração e Transmissão (Copel GET) are verified by suppliers’ compliance with laws, contractual clauses, technical and economic-financial capacity, respect for human rights, safe and dignified working conditions, as well as proof of tax and labor regularity and environmental commitment.

Copel GET’s certification also includes structured procedures for performance evaluation, calculation, classification and audit of results.

The main objective of Copel’s supplier certification is to promote conformity and alignment of suppliers with Copel’s goals, standards, policies and values.
