Environmental Education and Communication Program

Environmental education and communication

The characteristics of the projects and the social and environmental programs carried out by Copel are presented at meetings, when relevant or requested by the community. This interaction generates reports on compliance with the environmental licensing process.

Also in compliance with the licensing process, the communities take part in environmental education actions, which aim to raise awareness among stakeholders about the issue, promoting a sense of responsibility for preservation.

Educational materials, lectures, dynamics, theaters and other pedagogical resources are used, proposed according to the public to be involved and the content to be worked on. Company employees and third parties, nearby school communities, populations in the area of influence of the projects, among others, take part in these actions.

Permanent campaigns

Campaigns are also carried out to inform the population about safe living with the electricity grid, including radio spots, distribution of information material (GET Good Neighbor Program), press releases for the press and events.

Copel also welcomes the community to its facilities, by scheduling visits to the plants, substations and spaces maintained with a focus on educational activities, such as the Iguaçu Regional Museum and Espaço Energia.

All community relations actions follow the guidelines established for the Copel group in the Company’s Communication Policy.

The management of the impacts generated by Copel GeT on communities is based on the following policies and guidelines:

  • Copel’s Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship Policy, which establishes the parameters to be followed by its board of directors, staff and partners in decision-making, respect for stakeholders and broad promotion of ethics and respect for diversity in the conduct of its business;
  • National Environmental Policy;
  • Conditionalities of environmental licensing processes, through compliance with the scope and deadline of the projects’ conditionalities;
  • Universal human rights precepts.

The results are measured by monitoring the implementation of the socio-environmental programs and maintaining the regularity of the environmental licenses required for the implementation and operation of the projects. Copel Geração e Transmissão has incorporated the concept of sustainability into its processes and businesses, generating value for the communities surrounding its projects and for society in general.
