Global Compact at Copel

The Global Compact is an UN initiative with the purpose of engaging companies in an effective manner in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and the Fight against Corruption, so, in conjunction with other social players, they will contribute to building a more inclusive and sustainable global economy.

To that effect, ten principles were established which currently have a direct correlation to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO) and which must be aligned to the strategy of companies that adhere to the Global Compact.

The initiative is considered the largest on the planet, in terms of Corporate Sustainability: there are over 13 members across 160 countries.

Copel is a signatory since its launch, in the 2000s, by then UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan. Ever since, the Company has been permanently reaffirmed its commitment, by reinforcing good practices and designing new actions, integrated to Rede Brasil: the third largest network of companies for the Global Compact, with over 800 members.

Formal adhesion is made by sending a letter to the UN Secretary General, where the company declares its commitment to the premises of the Global Compact.
