The Program is designed to train professionals hired to carry out construction work on energy projects, as well as to raise awareness among workers about socio-environmental issues.
In the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Program has objectives linked to SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduction of Inequalities) and which aim to:
Train construction site workers on procedures for recycling/handling/disposing of solid waste, safe general practices for handling/disposing of hazardous substances and addressing community concerns;
Raise awareness among construction site workers about socio-environmental issues, such as preventing air, water and soil pollution, reducing waste generation and protecting cultural resources;
Promote a sense of socio-environmental responsibility and citizenship.
The Program is documented by a Technical Report, containing a list of attendees and photographic evidence of the activities carried out.
In 2024, Copel reformulated the management of the Environmental Awareness Program for Construction Workers, updating its scope to a more assertive approach, focused on the peculiarities and environmental impacts resulting from the installation of each specific project. Considering the new format of the Program, improvements were established with a focus on delivering value, with the following work proposals and objectives:
- Take advantage of the workforce/expertise of Copel’s team of professionals in the Environmental area directly involved in the environmental studies of energy projects;
- Open a new channel for the exchange of information, learning, dialogue and reception of doubts and questions from construction workers;
- Ensure full compliance with the scope of the Program;
- Enable the execution of the Program entirely remotely;
- Produce new, updated educational and informative materials, aimed at the specificities of each project regarding socio-environmental issues;
- Optimize processes, increasing productivity with increased use of new technologies and innovations.
Copel also began measuring the effectiveness of the Environmental Awareness Program for Construction Workers through a Satisfaction Survey conducted with the target audience, with the aim of continuously improving the process, always seeking to integrate new themes and content in the application of the Program.
