SDG Ambition
The Ambition for SDGs Program is an initiative of the UN Global Compact that aims to challenge and support companies around the world to set ambitious goals and integrate sustainable development goals into their business strategies.
To this end, it proposes clear sustainability goals and offers an SDG journey so that companies can establish their priorities and develop concrete plans to achieve them. The program has already reached more than 2,000 companies from 40 different sectors in 80 countries.
The Ambition methodology allows companies to exchange valuable experiences and creates the opportunity to learn new ways of planning and carrying out projects aimed at implementing the SDGs and aligned with strategy and business.
The program provides participating companies with the following opportunities:
- Training on how to integrate the SDGs into business strategy;
- Access to on-demand sessions on the Academy Platform;
- Live workshops for carrying out activities, clarifying doubts and exchanges between participants;
- Guidance on internal activities and materials that should be developed between workshops, which guide the journey within each organization;
- Individual advice per company during the six months of the program; and
- Global and local connections.
Methodology applied during the 5 months of the program:
- Set priorities for SDG impact and identify relevant benchmarks through principle-based prioritization.
- Set targets that match or exceed the benchmark’s ambition level as a new goal or by aligning with existing targets.
- Identify pathways that can be taken to achieve each goal and define actions and initiatives to drive progress.
- Set sub-goals to track progress and communicate with stakeholders.
- Establish performance metrics to assess progress and impact, which will influence decision-making and determine data flows.
- Determine processes needed to enable data flow and execution.
- Link sustainability goals to existing business processes and management.
- Identify system opportunities to accelerate integration and ensure greater value and impact.
- Guide analysis of opportunities to make Key Design Decisions (KDDs) for business system implementation.
- Establish public commitments and communicate progress.
