Business Leaders for the Climate

Launched in 2021, the Business Leaders for the Climate Positioning consists of an open letter, in which leaders of 105 national and foreign companies, as well as sectoral entities, support bold environmental goals and defend Brazil’s engagement in an agenda for sustainable development.

Signed by Copel and released by the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), the document highlights the need for a low-carbon economy and records the responsibility of the business sector in this transformation.

The Positioning highlights the actions that companies have adopted to reduce and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions: internal carbon pricing, decarbonization of operations and value chains, investments in green technologies and establishment of corporate goals ambitious climate neutrality plans by 2050.

The letter also highlights the need to support innovation and practices that contribute to Brazil’s ability to grow sustainably, reinforce climate change and protect its biodiversity through the development of a political-regulatory structure with actions to preserve the environment and combat illegal deforestation.
