Copel Solar Program
In yet another initiative based on the ESG agenda and customer service, the Company has been investing since 2023 in a cooperative service offering local renewable energy from solar sources.
Copel is installing solar power plants in Paraná using a shared distributed generation model, offering certain consumers—especially small businesses—the possibility of cost savings.
The generation from the solar plants installed by Copel will be apportioned and credited to consumers participating in the project, brought together through the Copel Solar/Nex and Copel Solar/Nextron cooperatives. The energy credit will be deducted from the Copel Distribuição bill, reducing the amount due. The amount relating to participation in the project will be paid directly to the cooperative.
Among the advantages of this model are: the absorption of implementation costs by Copel, an increase in the supply of renewable energy, a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, community engagement, and the promotion of small businesses.
In addition, the initiative also includes support for the implementation of community platforms for trading and sharing energy, which allow consumers to organize collaboratively to consume, share, or trade surplus renewable energy. This approach strengthens local energy autonomy and encourages sustainable and innovative practices.
Nextron, a partner in the project, already offers a 100% online platform for integrated management of consumption, savings, electricity bills, and payments.
