Principles for Responsible Management Education – PRME

PRME is a global platform of the United Nations (UN) for voluntary engagement by business schools and other higher education institutions. An organization that joins PRME expresses its conviction that academic institutions, through the integration of universal values into their curriculum and research, can contribute to a more stable and inclusive global marketplace, helping to build successful and prosperous societies.

The seven principles of PRME are inspired by international values, such as the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, namely:

  1. Purpose – promoting responsible management education to foster inclusive prosperity in a world of thriving ecosystems.
  2. Values – placing organizational responsibility and accountability to society and the planet at the heart of everything we do.
  3. Teaching – transforming learning environments by integrating responsible management concepts and practices.
  4. Research – studying people, organizations, institutions and the state of the world to inspire responsible management and education practices.
  5. Partnerships – involvement of individuals, companies, government, civil society and academia to promote education and responsible and transparent management practices.
  6. Practice – adoption of responsible management principles in governance and operations.
  7. Sharing – collective learning by sharing positive and/or negative results, to better experience common values and purposes.
