Copel GeT’s power generation and transmission projects may be subject to emergency situations with potential socio-environmental impacts, such as oil or chemical spills, incidents at reservoirs, substations, dams, and conservation areas, accidents in the vicinity of the projects, and events that may affect communities, fauna, flora, water resources, or the operation of the assets. To ensure a rapid, organized, and effective response in these situations, the Environmental Emergency Program is implemented through the Socio-Environmental Emergency Action Plan, known as PAMA.
This program establishes guidelines for planning, preparedness, response, and post-emergency assessment, including activation procedures, definition of responsibilities, training, drills, availability of first-response materials, support from a company specializing in environmental emergencies, and integration with the projects’ management teams and contingency plans. These actions help contain and mitigate potential risks and damage, protect the population and the environment, preserve environmental quality and the multiple uses of water, and support legal compliance and the safe resumption of operations.
